The D4 is suitable for miking kick drum, floor tom, djembe, bass guitar combo, piano or saxophone. The D4 has an innovative capsule design that is also capable of reproducing frequencies below 100 Hz cleanly. In fact, the D4 is able to pick up frequencies up to 63 Hz. However, it should not be forgotten that this microphone is a full-range microphone that is suitable for a variety of different applications. If the D4 is used to pick up the kick drum, it should be placed in the centre of the sound opening of the front head. Here, the D4 offers a warm, fat sound with a good portion of punch.
