Technical objective:
The Avantone Active Mixcubes are designed as high-resolution, fully functional mini reference monitors for stationary or mobile use. The secondary technical objective was to create a timeless design that incorporates a single full-range transducer.
Cabinet design:
The original 5C Sound Cubes were made from 1/2" chipboard covered with a glued-on wood grain chlorobromide silver paper. We opted for a thicker, denser MDF board because of its greater strength and lower resonance behaviour.
Driver design:
The originals were a simple 5" frame design. We designed a 5.25" die-cast aluminium driver/cone assembly to exceed the performance of the originals. The driver's top plate and T-yoke are made from Sumitomo 1008 low carbon steel.
Amplifier design:
We designed the amplifier module from the ground up as a true professional amplifier.
