The Gibson Custom Humbucker is a standard feature on Historic Reissue guitars from the Gibson Custom Shop and is a favourite of guitarists around the world for its legendary PFA sound. Years of research and testing by Gibson engineers resulted in a formula and process to replicate the magical sound of the original Patent Applied For Humbucker™ from the 1950s. Each custom humbucker uses Alnico 3 magnets for a warm, sweet sound that accurately reproduces the tonal characteristics of the highly prized early humbuckers. Just like the original Patent Applied For humbuckers, the Custom Humbucker features a 42 AWG wire and unpaired coils that are not moulded with wax. This results in an accurate pickup that will satisfy even the most demanding musicians.
