The PB-05 E is the cost-effective version with a plastic housing and a 270 degree potentiometer for distance adjustment. The device is simply plugged between the microphone and the cable. There is an active infrared sensor on the front. This sensor "recognises" when someone is in front of the microphone and switches the microphone on without any switching noises.
The microphone is automatically switched off when there is no one in front of the microphone. A red status LED indicates the operating status of the Optogate. The PB-05 E works with 48V phantom power. It eliminates unwanted background noise from instruments in unused microphones. The clarity and dynamics of the useful signal are significantly increased by minimising phase cancellations and interference from other microphones.
