Palmer PAN 08

19 inch, 1 U, 90mm depth

2 x transformer-balanced XLR outputs

Output impedance: 600 Ohm

switchable channel boost: + 6db, + 12db, + 18db

The PAN08 from Palmer has 4 channels, each of which can be used as an active DI box, line isolation box or catch-up amplifier. The input combo socket (jack / XLR) accepts both balanced and unbalanced input signals. The output is transformer-balanced with a double XLR socket (front and rear).

The signal level can be reduced by 20 dB for microphone inputs and, if necessary, increased by 18 dB in 3 switchable stages for LINE inputs. With an output level of +12 dBu at 600 O load at 0.05 % THD/40 Hz and an output noise of less than -110 dBu, the device also fulfils high professional demands. A special feature is the rechargeable battery power supply. The supply voltage can be 9-18 V. This means that the PAN08 can also be used independently of the mains in outdoor operation.

The cables are connected directly to a mixing console or, at best, connected to the sound system with a transformertransformer or a DI box viaXLR cables.Frequentproblems with this configuration areinterference signalssuch as hum loops orthe interference known as "buzzing" from PC power supplies and hard drives (especially on laptops), as well as the familiar "crackling" and "cracking" at the mini jack socket or in the adapter cable. External sound cards from the studio sector are usually expensive, have more functions than they need and areöand are often difficult to install.
