Laptops and PCs are ubiquitoustools in AV technology. Until now, music or the sound embedded inpresentationshasmainlybeen tapped from the laptop or PC viathe 3.5 mm mini jack socket. The cables are connected directly to a mixing console or, at best, connected to the sound system with a transformertransformer or a DI box viaXLR cables.Frequentproblems with this configuration areinterference signalssuch as hum loops orthe interference known as "buzzing" from PC power supplies and hard drives (especially on laptops), as well as the familiar "crackling" and "cracking" at the mini jack socket or in the adapter cable.
