The level control of the Tube-Tech CL 1B compressor is connected directly downstream of the input transformer. It is controlled by the sidechain amplifiers, which also contain the controllers for the control time - one for fixed and one for variable attack/release time.
The two controllers can be operated either separately or together. This circuit works exclusively with semiconductor OP amplifiers. The level is reduced via a tube-based push-pull amplifier with a downstream variable gain of up to 30 dB. A special 3-position bus selector switch (Off, Bus 1, Bus 2) allows multiple compressor units to be daisy-chained and the input and output transformers have electrostatic shielding between the primary and secondary windings. Input and output are symmetrical and completely earth-free.
