A larger spur and a more flexible reed tip than the traditional reed enable vibrations on a larger surface with maximum flexibility. This kind of "backbone" gives the musician more flexibility when playing, as the resulting elasticity range is very wide.
JA stands for Jazz, VA for Varieté (light music) and of course for Vandoren.
