Dangerous Music

To add colour and character to your mixes, the design team at Dangerous have created three completely unique fully analogue circuits: Harmonics, Paralimit and X-Former. Because these circuits are hardwired into the 2-BUS+ (pronounced "Tuh Bass Plass"), you get a versatile selection of analogue colouration without having to leave the lush yet open mixing environment.Harmonics - Add the euphoric sound of an analogue circuit on the edge of distortion to the entire mix, or just a single channel pair. Care has been taken to find the perfect balance of even and odd harmonics. This effect is applied in parallel with the unprocessed signal. The "STIMULATE" control allows you to adjust exactly how much of it you want. The treble shimmers subtly, the bass growls pleasantly and the whole sound is warmed up a little in a way that only a genuine analogue circuit can do.Paralimit - A FET limiter set to the right. An original Chris Muth design inspired by the famous 1176 Limiting Amplifier on "All Buttons in": a ratio to infinity and analogue sparkle in the highs. With its "BLEND" control and assignment switches, the Paralimit enables parallel compression in the simplest and most direct way, in stereo, at analogue level, on the whole mix or just on one stereo channel pair - a flexible setup that would otherwise require complex cabling, meticulous level balancing and a not inconsiderable amount of outboard gear.X-former - Last in the path is a pair of custom Cinemag transformers, characterised by Chris Muth's utterly unique approach to driving the transformer into saturation. Switch it on to get the solid, punchy sound that makes old consoles so popular - and then turn in the "SATURATE" knob to drive the transformer more and more into saturation in a way that only the 2-BUS+ can. The X-former is all about having just the right amount of colouration of a classic analogue console available when you need it.

The Dangerous BAX EQ is based on the classic P.J. Baxandall 1950 bass and treble filters and offers the possibility of a unique sound design.Inspired by the classic Baxandall filter curves used in millions of hi-fi systems, the product developers at Dangerous Music have created a unique equaliser with a 21st century mastering aesthetic.The BAX EQ's filter design loops wide and open curves and carefully cuts the essentials for recording, mixing and mastering. The result is pure emotive expression with audiophile accuracy. The Bax EQ doesn't make a radical signature that overshadows the music, but enhances what is already there.The BAX EQ has consistently reproducible switches for identical stereo processing and 8 frequencies each, switchable in 0.5dB steps for the high and low frequencies. This wide Q factor allows the filters to intervene far into the mid-range. Coupled with a seven-position high-pass and low-pass filter, many flexible and musical interventions can be made.The high and low pass filters are particularly suitable for removing unwanted signals outside the audio band. For example, infrasound or interfering frequencies from aeroplanes, trains and valuable dynamics. This low-frequency energy causes noise in unwanted places on compressors. Removing these energies increases the clarity and punch in the bass range at higher volumes.One of the unique features of the Bax EQ is the minimal phase delay design, which provides a wide tonal control that does not alter the original sound character when the EQ is placed on the stereo bus. In a recording situation, a shimmer can be added to the voice without changing the tone of the microphone or amplifier. For example, boosting 74 Hz and cutting 54 Hz at the same time creates a perfect 60 Hz bump for kick drum or bass. The Bax EQ touches several octaves for simultaneous sound shaping.

The new Dangerous Music CONVERT-8 is a reference-class 8-channel DA converter. It is the 8-channel version of the equally new CONVERT-2 with a slightly different feature set.Equipped with ADAT and AES inputs and D-Sub outputs as well as AES Thru, it is very easy to replace or expand existing DA converters.The CONVERT-8 is tailor-made for mixers that use analogue summers such as the Dangerous D-Box and the legendary 2-Bus(+). On the other hand, it is ideal for surround setups (up to 7.1), both in the mix and in mastering. It can also be easily integrated into a Dangerous Monitor ST setup.The CONVERT series has been developed from scratch - without compromise.
