Evans is the only head manufacturer to produce the well-known heads whose two layers are separated by a thin layer of oil! This creates a natural damping effect without impairing the playing feel. As a throwback to the founding year, Evans '56 introduces a new series of drumheads that cater to the sound and look requirements of vintage era enthusiasts. Following the introduction of the bass drumheads, Evans '56 is now completed with the tom and snare heads.In order to optimise the sound for smaller tom sizes, higher tunings and a stronger response, a 7 mil thick film was used during production, in contrast to the bass drumheads. Calftone drumheads reproduce the same sound character of traditional calfskin drumheads, with the difference that they are made of synthetic material.As with the Calftone bass drumheads, Calftone tom/snare drumheads are supplied in vintage-style packaging. Available in sizes from 8" to 18".
A special feature of the new two-ply EC2S drumheads is the new Sound Shaping Technology developed by Evans. This technology makes it possible to provide each head with individual dampening according to its size. The damping material is not glued on, but is attached directly to the underside of the head and varies in thickness and width depending on the diameter of the head. This customised damping gives the new EC2S heads more tone, sustain and a crisp attack. In addition, the new EC2S heads have a greater tuning range and dynamic range.With the PrePacks, we provide all drummers with head combinations specially tailored to their musical style. On the back of each PrePack we also provide our well-known tuning tips plus "Sound Spectrum" graphics for snare, tom and bass drum heads. So you can easily find the right head for the sound you want.
The classic resonance head from Evans offers optimum air equalisation and a deep, powerful sound thanks to its 5" hole. This results, among other things, from the damping ring attached to the inside of the head. The decentralised position of the hole makes the EQ3 Resonant ideal for miking.
The Calftone heads embody the calfskin look and sound of the 1950s, but with the durability, perfect burr placement and tuning range of the Level 360 technology standard.
