At the front end of the cable is a miniature Lemo plug with a union nut. Once screwed in place, this prevents rattling.The CCM 4 has been optimised with regard to insensitivity to sound coming from the rear. As is characteristic of the classic cardioid, the attenuation is 6dB at lateral incidence below 90° and up to 30dB at incidence from the rear - depending on the frequency and distance. Diffuse sound is reproduced 4.8dB weaker than frontal sound, a value that corresponds to the directivity*. The greater this is, the less "space" a microphone transmits and the less susceptible it is to acoustic feedback.Thanks to its directivity, the CCM 4 can be positioned around 1.7 times further away from the sound source than a pressure transducer of the same sensitivity with the same reverberation balance. Even in a diffuse sound field, i.e. at a great distance from the sound source in the room, this type of microphone has a constant frequency response - apart from a slight rise at 10kHz.The sound image is present and free of colouration. This microphone type is equally suitable for speech and music recordings, which is why it is used in the ORTF stereo microphone (MSTC 64 Ug, or STCg). It also delivers excellent results as an XY pair and as a centre microphone in an MS arrangement.

The CUT 60 is inserted between the capsule and the microphone amplifier.It keeps infrasound interference away from the downstream devices. Pressure gradient receivers (directional microphones) in particular deliver very high infrasound signal levels in the event of wind interference or in elastic suspensions, which can saturate transformer inputs or amplifier stages, for example, before the audible interference component leads to overload. To avoid this, an active, steep-edged infrasonic filter cuts frequencies below 60 Hz with a slope of 24 dB/oct. This does not affect the character of speech transmissions.

The CMC microphone amplifiers are not (power) amplifiers in the usual sense. Their task is to adapt the signals from the high-impedance condenser capsule for the very low-impedance, balanced transmission through the microphone cable.The various versions differ in their power supply type, amplification and surface, but they all work with a transformer- and capacitor-free output stage in A mode. This results in a low output impedance (high noise immunity), low distortion and low weight.

Schoeps B5D windscreen For use especially on pressure gradient receivers in low winds and as a pop shield. The foam encloses a volume of air around the microphone capsule, similar to a windscreen. The B 5 D is attached as far as it will go and provides good effectiveness with minimal sound interference.
