Warm Audio WA-DI-A
Warm Audio WA-DI-A
card.manufacturer:
Whether guitar, bass, keyboards or any other stringed instrument: the conversion of instrument signals into microphone signals should not affect the sound. This is where WarmAudio comes in and presents DI boxes that are designed for maximum sound integrity. From the individually wound CineMag USA transformer to the robust metal knob and switches. Even after long cable runs, the sound is warm and rich. This is made possible by the use of high-quality, discrete components. The robust aluminium housing and all switches, knobs and connectors used are designed for daily use in the studio or on stage and can withstand even the heaviest loads. The WarmAudio DI is available in passive and active versions. The active version is ideal for all low-level instruments with passive pickups. Clever detail: if there is no supply voltage (48v phantom power, 2*9V block), it can also be operated passively. The passive version, on the other hand, is ideal for keyboards and other high-level sources, but also harmonises very well with passive pickups thanks to its extremely wide transmission range. As a practical novelty, both devices have an adjustable pad. In the range from -3dB to -30dB, the level can be optimally adjusted to the instrument used and annoying distortions are avoided. No loadbox function, speaker/loadbox must be connected to the "Thru" socket for use on the speaker out of an amp.

Warm Audio WA73
Warm Audio WA73
card.manufacturer:
If there's one mic preamp that professional engineers of all ages around the world adore in equal measure and that has shaped the sound of countless rock and pop albums over the last 50 years like no other, it's definitely the 1073. The 1073 has been used massively in studio and live applications for decades and is still considered the "holy grail" of mic preamps today. The Warm Audio WA73 family offers one and two channel recreations of this classic British preamp (with & without EQ), all of which pay careful and humble homage to the original circuitry. The WA73 family of preamps are boutique preamps that can be very well categorised as studio and live workhorses at the same time. The classic 1073 circuit is known as a versatile tool that harmonises fantastically with all types of microphones, from condenser to dynamic and ribbon. The newly launched WA73 family is equally suitable for all types of microphones and sources such as vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums, percussion, orchestra, keyboards, and even as a sound shaping tool to perform partial or full mixes. With 80 dB of gain, a fully discrete balanced signal path equipped with high quality Carnhill transformers and a versatile 3-band inductor EQ (on WA73-EQ and WA273-EQ products), there is no recording, mixing or engineering task that the WA73, WA73-EQ, WA273 and WA273-EQ can't handle and excite.Hand-wired, hand-assembled:The classic 1073 was hand-wired and so is the WA73 family. According to a number of audio gurus, part of the classic sound character of the 1073 is due to the hand-wired circuitry of the units. The entire WA73 preamp family (including the EQs) is authentically hand-wired and hand-assembled, including the PCB components, which are all assembled by hand.UK Custom Carnhill Transformer:1073 enthusiasts are unequivocal about the importance of components in classic circuits. A very common topic of conversation is the transformers. Various versions of transformers have been used in classic vintage equipment over the years. The most popular of these were the very first versions from Marinair Radar. Marinair Radar transformers are considered the first choice for 1073 preamps due to their sonic characteristics. Warm Audio worked closely with the renowned manufacturer Carnhill Transformers from Cambridgeshire, UK, to develop the most faithful possible replicas of these coveted transformers. These fantastic Carnhill transformers are used throughout the WA73 family. As a result, the WA73 family comes closer to the sound of the early vintage devices than any other modern 1073 preamp.Signal path and capacitors:An important part of classic British circuitry that is not often talked about is the different types of capacitors and output transistors that were used. In order to maintain the integrity of the original design, it became apparent in the development process that it was important to use tantalum and polystyrene capacitors in the signal path and certain output transistors that behave much more smoothly in the high gain settings than what is typically found in modern 1073 replicas.

Warm Audio WA-47
Warm Audio WA-47
card.manufacturer:
The WA-47 is a large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone with a 9-way switchable polar pattern. It is based on the classic '47 microphone, which can be heard on countless hit albums from the last 50 years of music history. The WA-47 is designed for professional recording studios as well as for home studios, live and broadcast applications. It harmonises perfectly with vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, acoustic and electric bass, drums, piano, strings, brass and woodwind instruments and many other sources. The classic '47 became very popular in the 1960s and is still one of the best vocal microphones ever made. The originals are still extremely popular with sound engineers worldwide. However, they have become extremely rare and are generally only available at extremely high prices. It was a great challenge for Warm Audio to build the WA-47 true to the classic model, as some of the original components have not been available for a long time. However, during the development process, Warm Audio was able to compare the WA-47 with two different original '47 microphones and realised that the two vintage microphones sounded slightly different. These comparison tests became the starting point for customising the WA-47 with the best characteristics of the two models.Once again, Warm Audio has managed to bring a beautiful sounding classic of studio history to the market at a price that makes a rare legend affordable to more people than ever before and indistinguishable from the vintage microphones in terms of sound. As with all Warm Audio products, the developers have focussed heavily on using the highest quality components possible. The WA-47 is also equipped with top components that are sourced from the best pro audio component suppliers worldwide. In this way, the Texan manufacturer ensures that it gets the best out of its product. The capsule:The WA-47 uses a custom-made replica of the capsule used in the classic '47 microphone - designed with the same hole pattern and frequency response. The Warm Audio version of the capsule (model # WA-47-B-80v) is manufactured with the utmost care by an Australian capsule manufacturer. Its precision enables Warm Audio to reliably provide this most important element of sound transmission at the highest level. The tube:Warm Audio took a very close look at four tube manufacturers in the run-up to development and fell in love with the Slovakian vacuum tube JJ 5751. Due to its low gain and low inherent noise, it transmits significantly more acoustic details of the capsule and transformer than tubes with higher gain. The frequency response of the JJ 5751 and the way it affects the behaviour of the circuit is extremely smooth and absolutely vintage. The transformer:The WA-47 uses a TAB-Funkenwerk (AMI) USA transformer with a large toroidal core and German transformer plates. Among other things, this transformer is responsible for the velvety soft highs and the thick belly that you would expect from a 47 microphone. The cable:One tube microphone component that receives little attention from many manufacturers is the 7-pin cable that connects the microphone to its power supply. In testing the WA-47 and other tube microphones, Warm Audio has learnt a lot about how drastically the shielding and wire gauge of 7-pin cables can affect the performance of a tube microphone. That's why Warm Audio has teamed up with Swiss cable specialist Gotham Kabel to supply the WA-47 with the 7-pin GAC-7 cable. This high-end cable greatly increases the airiness of the sound and the size of the recorded image on the stereo base compared to cheaper cables. The capacitors:A polystyrene coupling capacitor from Wima is used on the input side of the WA-47 and a Solen capacitor from France is used on the output side to drive the TAB-Funkenwerk (AMI) USA transformer.

To cater for every recording situation, the WA84 premium stereo package also contains 2 omnidirectional condenser capsules in addition to the familiar cardioid capsules. These are produced by an Australian manufacturer according to strict specifications and selected in pairs. They make the WA84 a universal small diaphragm condenser microphone with a retro touch. The vintage-style microphone has a Class A signal path with CineMag transformers, Fairchild transistors and Wima capacitors. As a classic small diaphragm microphone, it is suitable for a wide range of applications, including acoustic and electric guitars and basses, drums, piano, strings and wind instruments.By using a CineMag output transformer with nickel core, the WA-84 has a very BIG sound for its small size. In recent years, small diaphragm condenser microphones have almost exclusively been built without transformers in order to simplify the design and make the manufacturing process more cost-effective. When developing the WA-84, Warm Audio made a conscious decision not to do this. Instead, the result is a boutique design with the legendary sound of the 60s and 70s, which is known for its crystal-clear, yet creamy and soft sound.
