The highlight: you only need one adjusting screw to lock and unlock the three joints. As soon as you have found your desired position, tighten the adjusting screw and all elements of the VARI®-ARM M 38 remain firmly and securely in position - thanks to a load capacity of 3 kilograms, even with DSLM cameras including a standard lens or a heavyweight microphone such as the broadcast classic RE-20.At the top end of the VARI®-ARM is a 3/8" thread onto which you can screw a microphone clamp, a pop filter and more. You are completely flexible with the included adapter (3/8" to 1/4" reduction thread) with which you can use almost any photo camera on the market, a handheld recorder or a smartphone holder with the VARI®- ARM M 38. Thanks to the solid clamp with a wide 15 to 35 mm clamping range at the lower end, the VARI®- ARM can also be easily attached to most tables and tubes (e.g. tripods). The clamp can also be unscrewed to reveal a 3/8" thread for screwing on the VARI®-ARM itself.As a universal tool for your creative applications, there are virtually no limits to the uses of the VARI®-ARM M 38.

The direction of coverage is lateral, i.e. perpendicular to the microphone body, and is marked at 0° and 180° by a red and a black dot on the capsule housing respectively.When recording using the MS technique, the 0° axis points to the left when viewed from a position behind the microphone, and the "8" engraved on the front of the microphone is aligned exactly horizontally. The microphone should be positioned exactly above or below the microphone for the M channel at the smallest possible distance.The nature of the pressure gradient receiver becomes very clear with this type of microphone:the sensitivity decreases towards low frequencies,the directivity pattern and thus the directivity* are extremely little dependent on frequency,the proximity effect is pronounced.The sound of the MK 8 and CCM 8 is relatively bright and neutral. For physical reasons, the frequency curve drops off at 16 kHz.When using this type of microphone as a support microphone, care must be taken to ensure that first reflections do not hit the back of the microphone from a short distance, as sound from this direction is picked up by the capsule with the same strength as sound from the front, but with the opposite sign, which can lead to comb filter effects at higher frequencies.The MK 8 or the CCM 8 is particularly suitable for the S channel in MS stereo recordings, or as a pair - arranged at an angle of 90° above each other - for Blumlein stereophony.
