The nvelope is a powerful audio processor capable of making subtle and/or drastic changes to a sound by allowing control over the attack and sustain characteristics of the sound. This is extremely useful for altering all kinds of individual sounds and is also an excellent tool in any mixing situation. Powerful drums? A piece of cake!Especially with percussive material, the nvelope can be used for single tracks or the master bus with great benefit. You can shape a signal and improve its contribution to the mix without deforming it too much, as would be the case with excessive EQ and compression.Did you know that the founder and CEO of elysia, Ruben Tilgner, invented the Transient Designer | Transient Shaper technology in the late 90s? He is the only one who is still developing the Transient Shaper hardware today. That shows how complex this technology is!
The Dangerous BAX EQ is based on the classic P.J. Baxandall 1950 bass and treble filters and offers the possibility of a unique sound design.Inspired by the classic Baxandall filter curves used in millions of hi-fi systems, the product developers at Dangerous Music have created a unique equaliser with a 21st century mastering aesthetic. The BAX EQ's filter design loops wide and open curves and carefully cuts the essentials for recording, mixing and mastering. The result is pure emotive expression with audiophile accuracy. The Bax EQ doesn't make a radical signature that overshadows the music, but enhances what is already there. The BAX EQ has consistently reproducible switches for identical stereo processing and 8 frequencies each, switchable in 0.5dB steps for the high and low frequencies. This wide Q factor allows the filters to intervene far into the mid-range. Coupled with a seven-position high-pass and low-pass filter, many flexible and musical interventions can be made. The high and low pass filters are particularly suitable for removing unwanted signals outside the audio band. For example, infrasound or interfering frequencies from aeroplanes, trains and valuable dynamics. This low-frequency energy causes noise in unwanted places on compressors. Removing these energies increases the clarity and punch in the bass range at higher volumes. One of the unique features of the Bax EQ is the minimal phase delay design, which provides a wide tonal control that does not alter the original sound character when the EQ is placed on the stereo bus. In a recording situation, a shimmer can be added to the voice without changing the tone of the microphone or amplifier. For example, boosting 74 Hz and cutting 54 Hz at the same time creates a perfect 60 Hz bump for kick drum or bass. The Bax EQ touches several octaves for simultaneous sound shaping.

For 50 years, everything at Harrison has revolved around the "Beautiful Analogue Tone". Harrison mixing consoles have been used to produce an incredible number of music albums that have made history - Michael Jackson, ABBA, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Donald Fagan, to name but a few. Harrison has since introduced a modern 32Classic version of the original 3232 console (including Dante interface and 7.1.4 monitoring). The legendary channel strip of this iconic mixing console is now available as a cascadable 19" rack version - including modern hybrid workflow features and an integrated stereo mix bus that can sum multiple devices.32Classic MS Mix Strip is based on the design of the 32Classic console and offers the same high-quality, transformer-coupled microphone preamplifier (Jensen JT-MB-CPCA), the characteristic Harrison low- and high-pass filters with a 3 dB resonance peak and the musical Harrison 4-band EQ. The channel strip also has a balanced insert point for looping additional outboard equipment such as compressors into the signal path. The additional pre- and post-fader direct outputs make the 32Classic MS Mix Strip a flexible, modern classic. The integrated mix bus and summing function offers even more flexibility. The outputs of several devices can be summed via the rear "summing" connections and the jumper cables supplied. Signals can be balanced with the fader and placed in the panorama via stereo channels. Alternatively, the 0 dB fader button enables mixing with unity gain. Perfect for hybrid workflows, as a "sidecar" to your existing setup or for mobile rigs, the integrated mix bus offers the legendary Harrison sound with exceptional flexibility, adding warmth and depth to every recording and mix.
Premium preamps are undoubtedly an important prerequisite for outstanding recordings. The SSL ORIGIN console with its PureDrive mic preamps is a modern classic among recording consoles. Its innovative preamps retain the clarity and punch of earlier SSL designs, but add the "DRIVE" option for a warm, overtone-rich and punchy sound that varies with increasing gain. For example, you can capture the subtle nuances of a piano concerto in PURE mode or add warmth to a drum recording in DRIVE mode. The PURE DRIVE OCTO continues this tradition in rack format, offering eight microphone preamps with the familiar PURE and DRIVE modes of the ORIGIN. However, SSL goes one step further and integrates a third, 'unbalanced' DRIVE mode as well as digital interfaces and a USB port. No electromechanical components (potentiometers, mechanical switches, relays, etc.) are used in the audio signal path of the PURE DRIVE OCTO, which increases durability and enables precise equalisation between all channels - not just one stereo pair. The use of digitally controlled analogue circuits, controlled by detented potentiometers and electronic switches, simplifies recall and precision of settings. This makes the PURE DRIVE OCTO one of the most powerful microphone preamps on the market with a multitude of new sonic possibilities and workflows, and the PURE DRIVE OCTO's numerous interfaces open up a wide range of recording options. The PURE DRIVE OCTO has eight rear-mounted XLR combo inputs, four front-panel Hi-Z/DI instrument inputs with automatic input detection and three D-sub connectors for line-level inputs and insert send return. The PURE DRIVE OCTO's insert returns/ADC inputs operate at a line level of up to +24 dBu, so they can be easily connected to other professional equipment. The PURE DRIVE OCTO's versatile digital connectivity options include an integrated USB sound card that transmits eight audio channels at up to 32-bit/192 kHz to your DAW. There are four AES/EBU output pairs and two ADAT outputs. The AES and ADAT outputs can even be used individually to be used by the integrated USB sound card as outputs from your DAW. Finally, there is a word clock input and output with automatic switching for reliable digital clocking.

If there's one mic preamp that professional engineers of all ages around the world adore in equal measure and that has shaped the sound of countless rock and pop albums over the last 50 years like no other, it's definitely the 1073. The 1073 has been used massively in studio and live applications for decades and is still considered the "holy grail" of mic preamps today. The Warm Audio WA73 family offers one and two channel recreations of this classic British preamp (with & without EQ), all of which pay careful and humble homage to the original circuitry. The WA73 family of preamps are boutique preamps that can be very well categorised as studio and live workhorses at the same time. The classic 1073 circuit is known as a versatile tool that harmonises fantastically with all types of microphones, from condenser to dynamic and ribbon. The newly launched WA73 family is equally suitable for all types of microphones and sources such as vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums, percussion, orchestra, keyboards, and even as a sound shaping tool to perform partial or full mixes. With 80 dB of gain, a fully discrete balanced signal path equipped with high quality Carnhill transformers and a versatile 3-band inductor EQ (on WA73-EQ and WA273-EQ products), there is no recording, mixing or engineering task that the WA73, WA73-EQ, WA273 and WA273-EQ can't handle and excite.Hand-wired, hand-assembled:The classic 1073 was hand-wired and so is the WA73 family. According to a number of audio gurus, part of the classic sound character of the 1073 is due to the hand-wired circuitry of the units. The entire WA73 preamp family (including the EQs) is authentically hand-wired and hand-assembled, including the PCB components, which are all assembled by hand.UK Custom Carnhill Transformer:1073 enthusiasts are unequivocal about the importance of components in classic circuits. A very common topic of conversation is the transformers. Various versions of transformers have been used in classic vintage equipment over the years. The most popular of these were the very first versions from Marinair Radar. Marinair Radar transformers are considered the first choice for 1073 preamps due to their sonic characteristics. Warm Audio worked closely with the renowned manufacturer Carnhill Transformers from Cambridgeshire, UK, to develop the most faithful possible replicas of these coveted transformers. These fantastic Carnhill transformers are used throughout the WA73 family. As a result, the WA73 family comes closer to the sound of the early vintage devices than any other modern 1073 preamp.Signal path and capacitors:An important part of classic British circuitry that is not often talked about is the different types of capacitors and output transistors that were used. To maintain the integrity of the original design, it became apparent in the development process that it was important to use tantalum and polystyrene capacitors in the signal path and certain output transistors that behave much more smoothly in the high gain settings than what is typically found in modern 1073 replicas.UK Blore Edwards EQ switch:A great sounding 1073 circuit should also be as reliable as it sounds. The complex dual-concentric potentiometers in the EQ sections of the WA73-EQ and WA273-EQ are made in the UK by Blore Edwards, who manufacture switches and pots to military specifications. The use of Blore Edwards components is exceptional for 1073-style preamps/EQs in this price range and once again demonstrates the importance Warm Audio places on the high quality of its affordable products.
